Excitement or Fear?

Before going on stage, Carly Simon would have a racing heart, sweaty palms, and a tight stomach. To her, those symptoms meant that she was having an anxiety attack and she couldn't perform. Before going on stage, Bruce Springsteen would have a racing heart, sweaty palms, and a tight stomach. To him, those symptoms meant that he was excited for his show and ready to perform.

Running in Slippers is a metaphor for moving through the struggles in life. The journey can be perceived as painful, scary, and difficult. And it can be perceived as fun, adventurous, and full of opportunities to learn and grow. The journey is the same, the difference is the stories we tell ourselves.
